About Cooling Heating & Power Technologies at ORNL

The use of affordable distributed energy resources (DER) is a core strategy in reengineering the nation's energy generation and delivery systems. The Cooling, Heating and Power (CHP) Technologies Program team works within the Engineering Science and Technology Division (ESTD), with industry, academia, other national labs, and the federal government. The purpose main goal is to develop cost-effective technologies that reduce overall energy use, reduce peak power demand, ensure better power reliability and quality, while reducing emissions.

The CHP team is one of the eighteen research groups of the Engineering Science and Technology Division (ESTD) of the Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL). The ORNL is one of the DOE’s multi-program national research and development facilities. It is managed by UT-Battelle, LLC. Information on the organization of the CHP team and its staff is available for your convenience.
