CHP System Analysis

The Cooling, Heating and Power Technologies Program Team at the Oak Ridge National Laboratory offers CHP system analysis tools to help in the conception, initial planning, and implementation of CHP and Distributed Energy systems. Our team, other agencies, and the DOE have put together several software based tools available for download on our website.

These tools can be used to estimate the energy consumption and economics of CHP systems in commercial buildings, determine the optimal installed capacities for prime mover and absorption chillers in CHP applications, and calculate the optimal CHP capacities that maximize the net present value of the life-cycle cost savings due to employment of CHP systems. Our DE Program Planning Support Analysis tools work to provide the foundation for informed program management decisions, including definition of program priorities, direction, effectiveness, and strategy.
